The Courtesy Light option was standard on the XR7 package on Cougars 1967 - 1970. This package consisted of an underhood engine compartment light, trunk light, map light, and a pair of lights in the rear seat passenger area. (N/A for convertibles)
Both the under hood and the trunk lights utilized a mercury switch that energized the lights when either the hood or deck lid were raised.
Any standard Cougar body style 65A, 65C, or 76A could also have this option and many did. Those of you with Cougars from the Dearborn, Michigan (code F) factory might want to find your buck tag and look for the code 'CL'. The body buck tags were a guide for the assembly line workers. Buck tags were used starting mid April 1967. San Jose (Code R) did not use buck tags during 1968 or early 1969 on our Cougars.
