Why Should I Order through your Website, isn't it easier if I just call you?
There are many advantages for both you and us if you order online. Below is a few advantages:
- Depending on order volume, it can take as much as 2 days for us to be able to manually enter orders into the computer system that are received by phone, fax or email. If you order online, all of your information is already in the system, all we need to do is check the info for errors, make any adjustments necessary, then print, pack and ship the order. This means your order can be processed in minutes instead of days.
- There is a much greater chance of errors in your order if we take them over the phone, fax or email because they are written down by hand then retyped by hand into our computer system. When you order through our online system you have a chance to verify that your order is correct before you ever submit the order for us to fulfill. Ordering online eliminates about 90% of common errors.
- When your order is submitted online all of your data is encrypted with the same standards that banks use. There is a much greater chance of your personal information being compromised if you are reading it over the phone, emailing , or faxing it. Submitting your credit card online is the safest method of giving us your credit card information. Keep in mind when ordering online we do not even see your coveted 3 digit CCV code on the back of your card.
What do I do if you don't have the part I need listed on your website?
We are trying hard to get all of the parts for the 1967 - 1973 Mercury Cougar listed on our website, but in the mean time, if you need something that is not listed on the website, order as much of your order as possible through our online store. During checkout, in the comments section, enter a list of the parts you need that are not on our website, and whether you want us to just add them to your order and charge you or if you would like us to contact you first with an updated total. This guarantees accuracy in your information and ensures that your information is transmitted to us in the most secure manner. If possible, call us within minutes of placing your order online so we can add items not seen on our site or answer questions about your order. The reason we say "call within minutes" is because many times orders done online ship within minutes of you placing them!
Do you ship to APO/FPO Addresses?
We are more than happy to ship to APO/FPO addresses. Please remember that only USPS can deliver to these addresses so what you are ordering must fit within the guidelines for the USPS Military Mail Shipping Rules. These rules can be found at http://www.usps.com/supportingourtroops/.
Military personnel overseas may also want to check with the local American Car Club. Many of them regularly ship items out of the US and are more than willing to include your parts as well.
My Shipment Looks Damaged, What Should I Do?
For Shipments via the US Post Office or United Parcel Service (UPS):
If your package looks damaged, DO NOT REJECT THE PACKAGE*. Accept the package and inspect the contents for damaged or missing pieces. If there are damaged or missing pieces, please follow the following procedures.
- If Package Arrived via UPS:
- Call 1-800-PICK-UPS to file a damage claim with UPS.
- They will then schedule a time for the package to be inspected for damage.
- UPS will then contact us to process the damage claim.
- Hold on to the damaged pieces for 8 weeks to insure that a re-inspection is not required.
- If Package Arrived via US Postal Service:
- Call or email us to let us know that the damage has occurred
- Fax or email us a SIGNED and DATED description of the damage that includes the following:
- Order Number
- Package tracking number
- The date you received the packaged shipment
- Your full name and signature
- Hold on to the damaged pieces for 8 weeks to insure that an inspection is not required.
*- If you reject a package, you will be liable for the cost of the return shipping, as well as the shipping costs to ship the package back to you.
For Shipments via Forward Air Freight Service:
If your crate appears to be damaged, DO NOT SIGN FOR YOUR CRATE UNTIL YOU HAVE INSPECTED IT PEICE BY PEICE. When you sign for a crate through truck freight you are agreeing that your crate is in acceptable order and there is no recourse if it is damaged. No mater how much the driver compains, make sure that you are content with the condition of your shipment before signing for it.
Do you have a Printed Catalog?
We no longer are able to consider a printed catalog. We are trying hard to get all of our 10,000 plus parts listed on our website but it does take time considering we like to have as many as 20 pictures on some of our listings. Due to our vast and fluctuating supply of NOS and used parts, putting them in a printed catalog would just be a frustration to everyone, logistically impossible.... We know and understand the value of a printed catalog one can hold in their hand but even if we condensed our online catalog (when completed) it would be well over 5000 pages in size and rather difficult to navigate much less print and ship.
The shipping total seems excessively high... What gives!
If you have a feeling your computer generated shipping total is too high you are probably right. Our system is not sophisticated enough to realize that a 67 deck lid moulding, a 67 belt-line kit and a 67 dash face pad can all fit in one long slender box. When ordering multiple odd shaped or over sized parts it is sometimes beneficial to select "manually calculate shipping" during checkout. We will email you a total once your order is pulled, measured, boxed and postage is calculated.
What is a Shipping Broker and when should I consider using one?
Shipping brokers are companies that send container ships overseas on a regular basis and will include your order with their shipment to your area for a fee. Many times shipping through a shipping broker will save you money compared to shipping via USPS Post or UPS for overseas shipment, especially for items like bumpers, dash pads and most sheet metal parts.
We do not work directly with any brokers. We have a list under our shipping information section so that you have a starting place when looking for a shipping broker. All of the brokers listed are brokers that our customers have used. You would need to contact the shipping broker for details on how much they would charge to send your shipment, and how long it would take. Remember to factor in the cost of shipping your items from us to your shipping broker. If you ship to one of the brokers in California via UPS Ground, the shipment will usually arrive in 3-5 business days. If you choose to send it to one of the brokers in the Eastern US via UPS Ground, it usually take 5-10 business days to get to the broker.
I keep getting a message that the shipping method is not valid to my address . . . WHY!?!?!?
The most common reason for this error is that either you have neglected to choose a shipping method,
You have neglected to select your country from the country drop down box,
Or you have chosen a US only shipping method on an international shipment or a international shipping method for a US shipment.
If you still cannot get it to work, just choose "Manually Calculate Shipping", and it will bypass the store shipping calculator and let you proceed with your order. We will then email with the shipping options and prices.
Another reason for this message is if you use periods (.) in your state. The online system does not know how to handle periods.
Why do you have items listed in you online catalog that you never seem to have in stock?
Our goal is that our online catalog is not just a place for you to purchase your Cougar parts, but is the largest online reference for any part that ever came on a Cougar. This means that there will be items listed in our online store that we may rarely get into our hands, but it gives you a description and many times a picture to reference in your search for those hard to find parts for your Cat.
I added a free download item to my shopping cart, how do I download it?
The shopping cart generates a download link just for your order, because of this we have no direct access to a link to send you. The download link will appear as a "Download" button in your order confirmation screen as in the example below.
