This is a 1968 only part that is correct for Cougars equipped with the 390 GT "S" code motor. Whether your Cougar has the GT package or not, as long as it has a 4V 390 motor, this is the correct snorkel for your Cougar. The internal dimensions of the opening at the air cleaner base end measure 4 1/8" X 2 3/16", the flange mounting holes measure 5 1/2" on center. The opening for the S tube is 2 3/4". This snorkel was found on the XR7-G model with a 390 or 428 engine with the tall pent roof finned aluminum valve covers. The HERTZ model with the 390 engine used a chrome "Powered By Ford" chrome valve cover and did not need the extra length in the extension. This is a refurbished snorkel made from original parts. Sold individually, right is the same as left. Rare find but hard to justify the price in light of the quality and price of the reproductions we offer at a fraction of the price. Notice the difference in brightness of these two NOS, fresh out of the Ford wrapper mouldings. This is actually quite common, different batches got different treatment. When you send in your trim to us to be restored it will match as it will all be done in the same "batch".

Great addition to that show quality FE powered early Cougar. Unlike the reproduction this has the original part number, BARNUM BROS. FIBRE CO. INC. lettering and FoMoCo insignia at the top driver side. This was one of the last units out the door when FORD discontinued them in the 1990's. These NOS sill plates always have some degree of shelf wear due to the many years they have been shuffled around. The biggest difference you will see with NOS vs. the two different levels of reproductions is the finish. The NOS parts are far less bright and less prone to showing hairline scratches. The casting number imprinted on the part is C7WB-17B957-B for the driver side and C7WB-17B951-B on the passenger side. The Mercury MPC refers to these as "anti squeak pads".

If your Cougar has to sit outside for any length of time this is a must. Not only will it protect from unwanted moisture but pine needles and other debris will be kept out. If your cowl already leaks then this is a great way to prevent the floors from rusting. Spring loaded T shaped fasteners make for instant installation and removal, attaches under grate bars so as not to damage paint. Very worth while preventative maintenance item.
