This 1/2" tall unique little screw was used on several different trim parts on the early Mercury Cougars. When it's time to replace your old decaying foam seal, go with our reproduction weatherstrip retainer foam roll with peel off adhesive. Goes between the roof and door / window channel. These are not technically manufactured to fit the Cougar / Mustang, however these are very close to the originals and come from the manufacturer in a roll that is 4' X 1" X 1/8". One roll is more than enough to do one side, but you will need 2 rolls to do both sides. ...
We suggest using white lithium grease or petroleum jelly to ensure the seal will not stick to the shift lever. Fits 1969-73 Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustang, additionally it also fits 1971+ Maverick and Comet with floor shift automatic only. These are good reproductions of the originals for your American Sunroof Corporation Golde Sun Roof. The roof opening seal is 89 1/4" x 3/4" and the seal that affixes to the rear edge of the roof panel measures 42 1/2" x 3/4". These have the correct aluminum inner core with rubber bead, wrapped in the correct felt textured, black material. Premium reproduction rubber seal with the proper thickness of the 1967-68 seal as found on Mercury Cougar and Ford Mustang except these are not molded to the extension contours.
