Description: This is my most favorite Cougar - Mustang - Shelby option of all time! In fact as a rather tall person that is not as slim as I once was, I do not really enjoy daily driving a Pony car that does not have this option. This column does not only manually adjust up and down with the depression of the turn signal wand towards the dash, it also releases and swings up and towards the passenger side of the car each time the ignition is turned off and the door is opened. To start the car you must close the door and pull it back down into the original position. We almost always have to combine parts from three cars to get one complete, working unit that includes the vacuum storage can under the battery tray, unique steering coupler (rag joint), under dash wiring harness, unique secondary door jam button, relay, vacuum actuator, pull cable, brackets, turn signal cancellation cam, emergency flasher bezel, wiring cover, spring and correct hardware. We always pull the collar to clean, lubricate and check for cracks before shipping. Turn signal switch is included but not tested or guaranteed. Helpful diagram and trouble shooting manual is included.

This cover on the underside is unique to the 68-69 tilt, the fixed column looks similar but will not work with a tilt column.
Some 1968 models have this white plastic pin to adjoin the vacuum actuator to the cable fitting, others use a metal pin and cotter key.
Make sure and remove the emergency flasher knob before you remove the column cover. If you do not the plastic tabs on the bezel will break off. Notice this knob is broken off. All of the columns we sell have the knob broken off. Our supplier of reproduction 68-9 knobs has been slow to resupply us so a 67 chrome knob is often the best answer for a substitute.
This is the plastic emergency flasher knob bezel as seen from the inside. Usually a couple of tabs will be broke as seen on this one.
Notice the pin is in place that holds the jaw. If your column is lose this is what you should check. These pins located on either side are very prone to walking out. If left in a half in position they will damage the surrounding die cast parts. We pull the collar and inspect every unit we send out. Once you get your tilt you should pull the collar and clean well and lubricate.
Notice the worn portion in the rubber "roller". To provide a better fit when you reinstall just rotate the rubber roller around 180 degrees so as to expose undamaged rubber.
Here is what it should look like when installed, notice it have minimal gap showing.
