Our research efforts incorporate combinations of first hand knowledge, factory assembly manuals, physical examples on the premises and the Mercury Master Parts catalog. The Master Parts Catalog (or MPC) is the 3 foot thick book found at any Mercury dealer back in the day. Many of the parts have superseded numbers or are service replacement parts. Many service replacement parts differ from the OEM factory installed parts. We do our best to know and understand these differences as they come up and point them out. Catalog part numbers and physical part casting numbers also often differ and make part searches difficult. When applicable or when both parts are known to us we will try and list both in the text sections of our parts descriptions.

West Coast Classic Cougar recognizes the vast knowledge base of our fellow Cougar owners and enthusiasts. Many of you are original owners or have concours show winning Cougars. If we have made listing errors or made erroneous statements in our descriptions, please do bring it to our attention. Accuracy is our goal throughout our catalog.
