The drag links, pitman arms, and idler arms are all specific to manual or power steering suspension systems. Meaning that these three components need to be changed together during a conversion. Another thing to consider, the factory installed 20:1 steering boxes into cars with manual steering. Cougars and Mustangs with the Competition Handling package (sometimes called Improved Performance Option) received the 16:1 ratio steering box which is the same as all 1967-70 cars with factory power steering. On manual steer cars, the 20:1 ratio box requires much less effort to turn the steering wheel, but requires 4-5/8 turns 'lock to lock'. The 16:1 ratio steering box requires considerable more effort but requires only 3-3/4 turns of the wheel - 'lock to lock'. | ||||||||
