If your are missing your factory Riv-Nuts, or you are installing a passenger side mirror, these are a very easy to use alternative to the metal riv-nuts we offer. Another good application for these is when your existing mirror mounting holes are...

Had to use these on a hogged out mirror hole...worked perfect after grinding a little off of the top so the mirror would fit flush

I purchased these even though I knew that I was going to have to drill a larger hole to make them fit. Before installation... and only after drilling the smaller initial hole, I decided to review the video one more time. I noticed the previous review that described the height issue. I checked and I would have had the same issue! The rubber Riv-Nuts in the picture are not the same ones from the installation video or the ones that get shipped to the purchaser. It was either grind down the height of the rubber Riv-Nuts or go with another option. I went with the other option of buying the Riv-Nut hand tool from Harbor Freight. I did not want to drill the larger hole and then not have them work!

Good product, wish it worked. It would have made the job much simpler. But...the rubber had too large of a diameter to fit inside the holes in the door. Couldn't use them. The fit and correctness should be 0, but the site did not allow it.

Don't buy these

The upper lip is so thick that the mirror won't sit flush to the door. I bought them before that worked great, but not these.

Pros:
  • no special tools needed except for drill
Cons:
  • rivet is troublesome to get to work.
  • doesn't fit mirror gasket.
The rubber rivets are VERY prone to deformation. Some better instructions would be helpful.

First, it's essential that the rivets sit flush with the mirror gasket, not on top. The rubber gasket hole must be enlarged for this to happen.

Eventually I got them to work, but it took all afternoon. Having a spare rivet, or perhaps just doing a set of 4 would help mitigate any issues.

It's probably best to find another way to mount the mirror, even if you have to buy one or two special tools instead.

These also make it very difficult to mount the mirror straight on its gasket. The thickness of these plus the lack of clearance where the rear screw goes is the cause.

With better instructions, these gotchas could be avoided. That's the root cause of the problem.
