This driver side moulding is correct for convertible. On convertibles the top portion is trimmed to allow it to slide under the sun visor bracket. C5ZZ-7610962-A Ford description of this plate is "Plate - Front floor lower cross member". All 1967-73 Cougar convertibles and all 1965-73 Ford Mustang convertibles use this plate. Bolts into place with 6 hex bolts 3/8-16 x 1-1/8" with washers. These were painted satin black from the factory. As you look at our picture below you will see the repro is about half the thickness. This is the correct, original gasket for your 1971-73 Mercury Cougar antenna. Not only is it much thicker than the Ford Mustang gasket, but it also has a different overall geometry to it.
