| The Cougar 3 speed manual transmission, is indicated by a "1" on the door data plate information under transmission. That code 1, was used across all years 1967 – 1972. Ford referred to this fully synchronized transmission as the "3.03" transmission. The engineering term "3.03" is the distance in inches between the centerlines of the mainshaft and the countershaft. At West Coast Classic Cougars the transmissions that we sell are "Used", meaning that they are 'takeoffs' from the many 1967 – 1973 Cougars that we have purchased and scrapped for the purpose of organ donations to breath life into those Classic Cougars that deserve a second chance at life. Our takeoff or takeout transmissions are generally from long parked Cougars that have sat neglected for several years or more. A transmission is described as an undamaged case, tailshaft, with all internals. It will not include the following – shifter, shifter mounting plate, shift rods, backup switch or wiring, bellhousing, clutch or pressure plate, mount or crossmember, or yoke. It will be a used bare transmission like you might find at a swap meet.
