This clips affixes the plastic speedometer gear to the cable. According to the Master Parts Catalog (MPC), any Cougar with a 3.91 or 4.11 rear end and a 4 speed manual would have been equipped with this reducer. Boss 302 and 428 Cobra Jet engines were the only cars that could be ordered with those rear end ratios. The Competition Handling Package was available optionally on any 1971- 1973 Cougar. However, it was standard on both 429CJ engines (J code non-ram air and C code ram air engines) and all 1972 and 1973 351CJ's (Q code engine).
